In her lecture-performance Une Leçon de Ténèbres, Betty Tchomanga presents a tableau vivant of theoretical and artistic elements and historical and spiritual references, blending danced excerpts, travel stories, words and archive images to reveal how a decolonial work comes about. Drawing part of her inspiration from Decolonial Ecology by Malcom Ferdinand, the Franco-Cameroonian choreographer invites audiences to travel between the academic’s ideas and her own research into voodoo cults.
