March 2020. With the threat of covid looming, lockdown is declared. Juliette Chevalier has just returned from the popular Dunkirk Carnival. Contrast, mismatch, astonishment. A motivator too because she carries out research against the backdrop of the power of bodies, the desire to dance and touch, intense colours injected into the greyest of winters. Said to bring all sections of the population together, the Dunkirk Carnival has also been criticised for a sexist and racist drift. The young choreographer and her company La Drache extrapolate a gang, an uproar and a rigadoon as a means of collectively escaping dominant models, recapturing their own fantasies and coming together. With their head covered in flowers, out of their imagination the non-gendered figure of Beste Cantate is going to produce a fantastical, multicoloured group heading off to a queer pagan celebration, the subversive and inclusive utopia of a sisterly and fraternel society.
