From a wispy trail to a technological device, the cloud is a presence that has transformed and mutated along with the progress and technological advances of the 20th century. Between providing logistical support and accelerating catastrophes, we discover that this entity is as impalpable as it is omnipresent, even highly threatening at times. Born in Belarus not far from the border with Ukraine, the starting point for Arkadi Zaides is the cloud over Chernobyl in 1986 and the anxieties that nuclear catastrophe generated. In a device that blends projection, speech and danced movement, he composes a story that immerses us alongside the Chernobyl liquidators, the first humans who came into contact with the invisible deadly force. The choreography works with images that become progressively blurred and contaminated, somewhere between a fantastical exploration and personal memories, to shed light on the living links between the past, present and future.
