I’ll be there for you (for me) explores the art of joy to come up with a device of brilliance and insurrection. This multidisciplinary show blends dance, auto-tuned singing and words to weave interdependent relationalities between the performers and the audience. Her approach is centred on improvisation and listening, with each performer drawing on hip-hop, breakdance, freestyle or contemporary dance and getting them to enter into dialogue with each other. Despite the supportiveness and encouragement, impertinence and insolence remain as a position of rebellion. The stage becomes a field of experimentation, with video projections, collective and individual rituals, and moments of comfort, all the better to subvert the codes of Empire and dream up new worlds.
