She brings out the politics of bodies in the erotic digressions of 21 Pornographies and the freedom of gliding spaces in Skatepark (2023). In 2003, the Danish choreographer Mette Ingvartsen created her first piece, entitled Manual Focus. Twenty years on, she has now devised RUSH, a kind of retrospective of her choreographic work in the body of dancer and artistic partner Manon Santkin. The pair met at the Brussels dance school P.A.R.T.S. This celebration of their artistic collaboration provides an opportunity to go back over some of her key creations, such as The Artificial Nature Project and 7 Pleasures. They present RUSH as an attempt to “rewild” their practice. By using this term taken from conservation biology and means the restoration of wild areas, they are claiming that their dance practice is an ecosystem that needs nurturing.
