Starting in 2018 with Wild Cat, over time Saïdo Lehlouh's exploration of improvisation has continued in group form, first in the public space with Apaches in 2018 and now with Témoin. At the heart of these variations is a common and powerful driving force: at a given time and place bringing together dancers with different styles, often self-taught, and entrusting the heart of the choreography to the vibration emanating from their encounter. While breaking is the source of Saïdo Lehlouh’s dance, Témoin expands it to embrace numerous influences beyond hip-hop, brought here by each of the dancers. This shifting form is shaped by the performers’ singularity, their way of improvising from life in a piece that is written in the dynamic of profound listening and the momentum of the encounter.
