For its tenth edition, entitled Transmissions poétiques, Africa is/in the Future will focus on the concept and aesthetics of transmission. As a tool for self-research and self-knowledge through the preservation and diffusion of heritage, transmission forges bonds between territories and generations. It is also an instrument for resistance, for reinterpretation and for the reappropriation of stories and cultures for Afro-descendant and Afro-diasporic communities. On the programme for this day’s events at the Raffinerie, four works-in-progress that resonate with the themes of the edition will be presented, followed by a dance conference by de Betty Tchomanga, inspired by her research into the voodoo cults and the thoughts of Malcom Ferdinand, a doctor of Caribbean political science (see page 93). Fancy Legs will take place the same day, with workshops and an evening event associated with the festival.
