The bare white stage reflects the sanitised universe in which the four characters co-habit. Their only escape is dancing. The story – written and narrated by Éléonore Valère-Lachky – and the quartet choreographed by Anton Lachky thus become intermingled, based on performers with complimentary and contrasting virtuoso styles.
In the explosive and rigorous dance, eclectic soundtrack and plural vocabulary of Les Autres, there is a sense of the polyphony that expresses otherness within the same congruous and constrained space, highlighting the strangeness of elsewhere, vast and unknown. Accessible to audiences of all ages, this environmental fable is free of morality and in favour of celebrating the imagination, that key to wonder and a door to everything possible and desirable.
