After exploring collective energy in RUUPTUUR with its quartet of cyborg-centaurs, the choreographer and performer seen in i-Clit has returned to solo work and embarked on a new cycle of research. Fascinated by the iconic figure of the singer, Mercedes Dassy dreams up a fictional double, entrusting her with words written between 2020 and 2023 about various stages in her own life, and in parallel working to set them to music.
We meet Spongebabe on the eve of the release of her album 4 Love & Anxiety during rehearsals, as she also gives an intimate account of her experiences and reflections on the crises she went through, revealing her vulnerability, sweetness and rebirth.
Recurring leitmotifs with Dassy, rupture and pop culture feature in this opus whose vocabulary is“continuously kept on the edge of the natural, with the lines between fabrication and spontaneity blurred”.
