After creating to excerpts played by the harpsichordist Elisabeth Chojnacka in ELISABETH GETS HER WAY and to Henryk Górecki’s implacable rhythm in any attempt…, the Flemish choreographer continues his quest for rare and forgotten music in VOICE NOISE. Inspired by the essay The Gender of Sound by the poet Anne Carson, which highlights how women have been silenced throughout history, he brings together several pieces to form a constellation of female voices on stage. We encounter artists whose styles are very different and who come from all over the world, from the past and present, such as the black American soprano Ruby Elzy, the contemporary Norwegian composer Maja S. K. Ratkje, and the electronic music prodigy from Canada Debby Friday. Six performers enter into dialogue with the music, exploring how each track and each universe interacts with their dance.
