" How can an emotion generate a dance movement? And vice versa? "
This workshop combines physical and vocal warm-up practices that connect sensations and emotions. What triggers laughter, and how can it be induced? Breathing, laughter, and voice become tools for generating danced movement.
Drawing from my choreographic practice and creative research, my approach is rooted in improvisation, counterpoint, and relational techniques. I will share embodied practices that alternate between playful exploration and the search for expressive physicalities, both individually and collectively.
The workshop opens a space for experimentation and freedom, where the eerie, the disproportionate, and the unexpected can flourish, unfolding a polyphony of laughter and a multiplicity of dances.
Jonas Chéreau
Choreographer and dancer, Jonas considers the stage as a playground where he enjoys creating suspended moments at the threshold of abstraction and absurdity.
A graduate of the CNDC in Angers, he has performed in numerous productions, notably with Gaël Santisteva, Diederik Peeters, Lilia Mestre, and Sara Manente. He has also developed several collaborations with Madeleine Fournier, including Les interprètes ne sont pas à la hauteur, Sexe symbole (pour approfondir le sens du terme), 306 Manon, SOUS-TITRE, and Partout.
As part of Le Sujet à Vif at the Avignon Festival, he created Nature aime à se cacher with Jacques Bonnaffé.
In 2019, he created his first solo work, Baleine, followed by an adaptation for young audiences entitled Temps de Baleine. In 2022, he premiered the quartet RÉ VERBÉ RE R at the Next Arts Festival. Together with Valérie Castan, he also developed the dance lecture Regard par transparence, designed for both sighted and visually impaired audiences.
More recently, he has been developing Sowing Joy, a research project exploring the origins of joy in collaboration with participants. This research led to the creation of the trio JOIE, premiered in autumn 2025 at Atelier 210. Its youth-oriented adaptation, #Wouaj, aimed at teenagers, will be presented at Charleroi Danse in early 2027.
Currently an associated artist at La Maison Danse CDCN d’Uzès, he is preparing a new creation entitled Saynète.
