From confinement, an amplified metaphor has flowed out. Emerging from the darkness to which they will always return, six figures - with timeless silhouettes, indeterminate genders and impassive features – intermingle without meeting in a ceaseless to-ing and fro-ing. Six solitudes ? No – six spectres seeking one another. Six restless sentinels, on the lookout for something within themselves that could summon, or perhaps provoke, the other. Throw them off-balance. In the background of Arrière-mondes lurks the erratic nature of the beings, their torments and doubts, the anguish of that which passes by, returns, flees. The strangeness of everything – so familiar! – arises from nightmare as much as from fantasy. Reality wobbles, disquiet settles in, more entrenched that ever. The disquiet that has been probed and cultivated by the Mossoux-Bonté company for the past forty years.
