This one-week workshop is devoted to experiencing Trisha Brown's aesthetic in the fullest physical sense. The class will build organically with technical work and movement explorations to support and flow into dancing the repertory.
Class begins with a warm-up emphasizing the coordination of alignment, breath, and weight to bring space, direction, and flow of energy through the joints. Full-bodied phrase work from Trisha Brown's choreography will draw on internal and external geometries (both imagined and real), challenging students to take risks and broaden their perception of their dancing.
Jacob Storer (1992, USA) graduated in 2016 from P.A.R.T.S. and joined Trisha Brown Dance Company in 2017. Storer was involved in the creation of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s new choreography for West Side Story on Broadway in 2019 and in 2020 he joined Rosas. He is currently based in Brussels, collaborating on projects involving somatic embodiment, movement, music, and semantics of language. He has previously taught at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, New York; Mimar Sinan Güzel Sanatlar Üniversitesi, Istanbul; and P.A.R.T.S., Brussels.
