Adorno means adornment, i.e. the accessories and costumes that one puts on, the details to be focused on when creating one’s image, affirming one’s identity to be shared with the outside world, whether during carnival or in everyday life. Alice Ripoll examines the multiple layers that make up each individual, impervious to any attempts at simplification. Questioning the self-images that one produces with great help from digital tools, which enable us to reshape our contours whenever we want, she considers the resistance mounted by singularity, which continues to shine in the face of uniformization. Bedecked with accessories and prosthetics, the dancers undergo waves of metamorphosis. The choreography nurtures these beings as they morph into hybrids, elusive to the eye. In the process it examines our ability to come to terms with the other in a living mosaic, reflecting a collective history that is constantly regenerating.
