The first is a singing star from Galicia and an expert on the region’s folklore, from which she has created a collection of songs and musical pieces. The second, also from Galicia, is a contemporary dancer and an actor and teacher based in Barcelona, who has inter alias worked in collaboration with Lisi Estarás of the company Les ballets C de la B and with the Canary Islands performer Daniel Abreu. Together Mercedes Peón and Janet Novás combine their forces and talents to create the musical and dance duet Mercedes máis eu. In this performance, everything derives from the alchemy of the two performers who interact by alternating between each medium. Movements, voices and music explore their limits, and also their porosities, sketching out new territories, Having received the 2021 Catalan Critics” Prize, Mercedes máis eu draws on the heritage of Galicia with the spirit of punk and an emancipating fervour.
