Soirée composée (35' + 35')

Sab’r in Arabic means patience. Just as the meaning of the term has broadened to encompass perseverance, the young dancer unfolds it, stretches it, and explores its limits, its horizons and its far-flung recesses. A Liégeoise of Moroccan heritage, a recognized ‘battler’ in street dance, the founder inter alias of the Girl Zone Belgium collective, Siham Ennajjary brings together in this first creation the Berber influences that are her foundation and krump, her speciality. A discipline that is both physical and spiritual, as she points out. Even a lesson in honesty.

Tension, endurance and skill constitute the framework of Sab’r, a strong and flexible framework, in which the heart may nestle and from which it may present itself.

Each to their own tempo, skilfully measuring out the proportions of energy and nonchalance. In Quelle Aurore, the fruit of a commission from the SACD France and the Festival d’Avignon, the artists adopt the rhythm and adapt the codes of burlesque in order to resist the cynicism around them.

Newly designated as associate artist with Charleroi danse, Soa Ratsifandrihana cultivates groove – a key ingredient of her art – in work that embraces both the present and heritage. Invention and transmission nourish her dance, which is never short of fantasy. Soa Ratsifandrihana passed on her role in Quelle Aurore to the dancer, performer, commentator and mistress of ceremonies Lÿdie LaPëstE. As an author- composer - performer, but also an actor, Bonnie Banane takes evident pleasure in jumbling things up.

With a fondness for oxymorons, keen to avoid pitfalls and to walk into them, the 2 performers – armed with telephones, remote controls and moving walkways – create, through their use of paradoxes, an ode to feeling that is hybrid and free.
