This workshop approaches choreography as a space for embodied inquiry through movement, writing, reading, touch, and collective experimentation. Bringing together two distinct artistic practices, it explores how pleasure, curiosity, attentiveness to others, and vitality can become driving forces for creation and collective study.
At the heart of the workshop lies a simple but far-reaching question: what happens to us in encounter? How do we become different through our contact with others? What parts of ourselves are displaced, expanded, or transformed through attention, desire, listening, or touch?
Through improvisational and relational practices, participants will investigate how these experiences shape the ways we move, perceive, and compose together. Particular attention will be given to group dynamics, listening, and the gaze, not only as tools for composition but as practices that allow us to be affected by others and to imagine ourselves otherwise.
Each day, the studio will become a space where personal questions encounter collective processes, allowing new possibilities for movement, thought, and relation to emerge.
Exercises involving touch and gaze, as well as transitions between dance and speech, will open spaces for exploring creation as a process of transformation. Rather than understanding choreography as the expression of a fixed self, the workshop asks how movement can become a practice of becoming: a way of encountering difference, inhabiting other perspectives, and discovering who we might become together.
