"I would like to open up a space of danced research around the stupidogrammes of Dieter Roth, drawings executed spontaneously on a small grid of commas, that often contradict the squareness of the background through their scribbled goofiness. I see in these drawings a tension that I often find in the practice of dance - the rigorous formality of technical training and mastery working within the same undisciplined body that cries and eats and breaks, and can sometimes give us access to wild, stupid joy. We will experiment with danced scores that revel in this tension, retool them together in order to understand their potencies. We will make up songs and probably spend some moments sitting in a circle and getting lost in existential questions. Every expertise and every stupidity is welcome.”
