In Barroco, a work for a young audience featuring five performers, the choreographer Javier Suárez makes a connection between the world of the Baroque and childhood, a period of history and a phase of life that are both marked by change, invention and emotion, but also by disruption, contradiction and complexity. Through play, improvisation and creativity, the work draws from the Baroque codes of movement, which it deconstructs and dislocates, dreaming of new rules. Repetition, contrast, de-centering, exuberance, freedom : the characteristics of Baroque provide inspiration for a show celebrating the vitality of youth, the world of imagination, singularities, the collective and the intimate.
