Dancing Brel: the challenge taken up by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Solal Mariotte is as bold as it is improbable. Having explored the melodies of Bach and the blues of singer Meskerem Mees, the sexagenerian is delving into the repertoire of the singer Jacques Brel in order to present an inter-generational dialogue with Solal Mariotte, a dancer in his twenties, who previously appeared in EXIT ABOVE, a 2023 work created by the Flemish. For Ne me quitte pas and Le Diable (ça va), the choreographer reveals her facetious side, forsaking for the duration of this show the virtuosity and seriousness that characterize most of her creations. A waltz, some cult moves by her Rosas company and the break figures of Mariotte are performed before a giant screen displaying the face of the Grand Jacques. A touching ode to life and to popular music.
