In Le chemin se fait en marchant Areti Chourdaki embraces a “ritual temporality, a mechanical patience and a space that disrupts perception”. For the dancer and choreographer – with a background of Master Danse and choreographic practices –, craft and choreography articulate similar processes, a common metaphor of resistance to generalized acceleration. Incorporating her own textile creations, the space on stage morphs into a strange ecosystem, where routine comes up against the unexpected.
Inspired by Derek Jarman’s legacy, the film Blue, and by his own experience of life with HIV, Matteo Sedda invokes the forces of Eros and Thanatos in a duo made up of hypnotic movement and continual rotation. From their living and powerful presence, criss-crossed with vulnerability, the bodies of FUCK ME BLIND compose a spiritual landscape where a new homo-folk dance is invented.
