Is it possible to become close to a rock, a mountain or fire? The choreographer Louise Vanneste delights in forging non-hegemonic links with ecosystems in multidisciplinary and occasionally immersive pieces.
In Mossy Eye Moor, the bodies of five performers come into contact with geological phenomena.
As their dance progresses, they become connected to the metamorphism of rocks, the chemistry of fire and permafrost through scientific observations, memories and folktales that immerse them in at times extreme physical and emotional intensities. At the intersection of several disciplines, including dance, literature, visual art, scientific research and sound creation, Louise Vanneste demands equality between practices and art forms, echoing her de-hierarchised conception of relationships between humans and non-humans and trading exploitation for empathy.
