This workshop is devoted to experiencing Trisha Brown's Locus (1975) in the fullest physical sense. The class will build organically with technical work and movement explorations to support and flow into dancing the repertory.

Class begins with a warm-up emphasizing the coordination of alignment and weight to bring space, direction, and flow of energy through the joints.  Locus requires three dimensional specificity, drawing on internal and external geometries (both imagined and real). Students will be challenged to take risks and broaden their perception of their dancing through spatially precise phrase material and structured improvisation.

Jacob Storer graduated from P.A.R.T.S. and joined Trisha Brown Dance Company from 2017-2020. He was involved in the creation of new choreography for West Side Story on Broadway in 2019 and joined Rosas from 2020-2024. He is currently based in Brussels as a teacher, performer, and choreographer. Jacob has previously taught at P.A.R.T.S., Charleroi Danse, PERA (Northern Cyprus), Mimar Sinan Güzel Sanatlar Üniversitesi (Istanbul), NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and MoMA (New York).
