Designed for performance in situ, adapting to the urban landscapes dedicated to wheels and boards, BETON combines two activities indissociable from contemporary cities : breakdancing and skateboarding. In this way, what is ordinary is magnified, and the tension is embraced between controlled movement and random terrain, between the technical structure of the urban setting and the wildness of nature, between architectural rigour and free movement.
Balance and speed in the appropriation of substance and its forms ; flexibility in the approach to spaces, in interaction with the united soul of cities and the souls united in them, in the know or passing by.
Julien Carlier is more committed than ever to actively listening to the pulse of our societies, to examining their tangible realities and their impalpable impulses. As though, roaming around the concrete dunes, roughness and skill revealed the dialectic of our bruised humanities.
