While The Gyre, then A Very Eye and Dehors est blanc were constructed on a principle of continuity, of gradual evolution, Threshold follows a logic of non-linear, fragmented writing. Returning to the form of a duo, the company is dispersed over time : two performers, detached from one another, use the margin separating them as a source of impetus. Interdependence is maintained, here concentrated in a relationship of friction, reflecting the connection between sounds and movements.
Working in collaboration with the sound artist Daniel Bleikolm, Micaël Florentz and Angela Rabaglio research areas including voices, loops, sound produced by the body, acoustic illusions and psycho-acoustic effects. The piece is about using the gap that separates us to push out of the stupor and encourages us to take the leap. Thus Tumbleweed creates “a work extending into the void, which highlights the essential role of the environment in the birth of any form of relationship”.
